GBDE - GEOM Based Disk Encryption - is a FreeBSD block device-layer disk encryption that uses 128-bit AES designed and implemented by Poul-Henning Kamp and Network Associates Inc.
A more efficient implementation of FreeBSD GEOM based Disk Encryption - GELI was later written later by Pawel Jakub Dawidek.
