Are you sure about this? Most cell phone jammers that I have seen pretend to be base stations and get the cell phones to associate to the jammer, rather than to the legitimate base station.

Why the cell phone jammers are illegal in most countries?

Yes, according to my research (http://www.slate.com/id/2092059/, wikipedia, phonejammer.com, howstuffworks), cell phone jammers work by creating enough interference that the cell phone is rendered unusable and the device effectively 'deadened'. Nowhere did I find that jammers pretend to be base stations. If possible, please make me aware of the source of this information so that it may be inserted into this section of the wiki.

I am a fun of cell phone jammers, I bought the cell phone jammers from a cell phone jammer manufacturer---Beijing Signal Knight---www.wirelessphonejammer.com, I bought a pocket size cell phone jammer  SK-16A and a medium power cell phone jammer SK-3. They are very good, and help me to bolck the annoying phone calls in the Lib, Lab, meeting room, and hospital. But there is a problem, someone told me it is illegal in most countries, could you tell me the reason? Why i can not use the cell phone jammer?
